Holiday rental associations in Madrid: what they can offer

In Holiday rental regulations and taxes

Holiday accommodation associations are organisations created to represent the interests of property owners and managers.

Today, at Alehost, we explain who they are, which associations operate in the sector and what they can offer.

Which holiday accommodation associations are there?

We focus on those that operate and participate in the Community of Madrid. This is our main area of activity and one of the focal points for holiday let regulation.

Indeed, regulatory changes in Madrid, at both city and regional levels, may become a point of reference for other interested administrations.

We therefore consider it useful to know which holiday accommodation associations operate and whose interests they represent.

Madrid Aloja

Madrid Aloja is an association of short-stay rental managers in the Community of Madrid.

It brings together individuals, hosts and managers involved in holiday accommodation across the region.

Its aim is to seek an appropriate regulatory framework and encourage dialogue between the different parties involved in temporary letting. Its work also helped secure a change to the decree that required owners to set a minimum stay of 5 days. Madrid Aloja logo

Contact the association directly about its services, membership requirements and recent activity to assess whether it suits you as an owner or manager.

One of Madrid Aloja’s roles is to highlight the city’s appeal to visitors and emphasise the contribution of holiday accommodation to the capital, its neighbourhoods and nearby destinations such as Aranjuez, Toledo and Segovia.

Asotur

Asotur is the Association of Holiday Accommodation Managers. It brings together entrepreneurs, managers and investors in the holiday accommodation sector.

Its objectives include proposing a clear and reasonable legislative framework for holiday lets. Against the earlier legal backdrop, such a framework was intended to mark a turning point for holiday accommodation in Madrid.

Asotur argues that suitable regulation will improve the quality and added value of properties, helping develop a worthwhile industry that strengthens tourism in Madrid and creates employment.

Fevitur

Fevitur is the Federation of Holiday Accommodation Associations. It operates nationally to represent holiday let managers and owners and, by extension, tourism activity in Spain.

Its role is to protect members, owners and managers of holiday accommodation in relation to legislative changes and associated legal proceedings.

It acts as a national advocacy group promoting collaborative, accessible tourism with high added value, including holiday lets.

FEVITUR works nationally and brings together sector organisations. Consult its official information for current membership and services rather than treating old figures as a present-day census.

These three organisations operate in different areas but share an overall aim: to make holiday accommodation a viable option for owners’ investment and returns.

They also promote quality tourism and encourage city-break travellers to choose cities such as Madrid for holidays or weekends away.

At Alehost, we aim to provide organised management and personal service within the scope agreed with each owner, while respecting neighbours and guests’ needs.

We want owners to enjoy peace of mind and guests to have an excellent experience. Our ambition is to help make Madrid a quality tourism destination suited to the traveller of the 21st century.

Before joining an association

Ask which services the membership fee includes, whether advice is general or covers individual cases, which territory the organisation represents and how members participate. Membership does not replace permits or guarantee a favourable administrative decision.

Official information: Madrid Aloja and FEVITUR. Asotur is retained as part of the original selection; confirm its activity and contact details before applying for membership.
